Dana Hall is dynamic and well-rounded. She has proved time and again there is nothing that she cannot do. Dana Hall received her MA in psychology, summa cum laude, and her graduate degree in community agency counseling from Saint Xavier University, Chicago Il. She is a licensed clinical professional counselor for over 15 years in the state of Illinois. She holds advanced training and certification in the following areas: Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II), Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (ICATP), Certified Family Trauma Specialist (IATP), and an Addictions-Informed Professional (CAIMHP-Certification). Her private practice is located in the suburbs of Chicago. As a private practice therapist, she specializes in chronic illness management, trauma, and relational issues.
She successfully leverages her clinical work with social justice advocacy as an author, public speaker, and activist for inclusion and trauma-informed practices in education and counseling. One of her favorite projects is her award-winning bestseller: Beyond Words: A Child’s Journey Through Apraxia. She won the Mother’s Choice Award in 2021 for this lovely look at how children can be allies for their peers with speech disorders. She has been invited to the Apraxia Kids National Convention this summer (July 2022) to continue her advocacy for children like her son, who are diagnosed with this neological speech disorder.
In addition, Dana has been featured in Chicago Parent Magazine, Psychology Today, and written articles for Deep Soulful Love, A Chronic Voice, & Her View From Home. She delivered the Keynote address for the Spondyloarthritis National Convention 2020 and has been published in the print magazine Spondylitis Plus.
She has several new books and articles set to release this year so stay tuned for release dates!
When she isn’t at the office you can find her on the stage or screen. She is a professional actress represented by Promote Talent Agency. Her self-performed monologue, Sound Mind, was the 2021 Hear Me Out Monologue Competition Finalist Winner in New York. She also recently won the 2022 Femuscript Florida Monologue Contest performing her original piece Snowglobe. She began writing her own plays and monologues for fellow actors because she was, ‘tired of playing parts that didn’t fit her voice or experiences as a woman.’ In particular, she enjoys writing plays that make a difference and have something to say. She says her goal is to ‘take an audience on a journey where they feel truly connected, less alone, and open their eyes to the possibilities that exist when we push past traditional constructs.’ This perspective has worked well for Hall as she has had dozens of plays produced in the states and internationally. She took home a Best of Fringe award at the Women’s Theatre Festival (NC) for her examination of social disparities with the play, No Justice. Her Halloween-themed comedy, Don’t Lose Your Head, was published with Heuer in 2022. She was also nominated Best Director and Best Play at Triangle Rainbow Theatre’s LGBTQ play festival (NYC 2021) for her play, Sunny Side Up. She dedicates her work and this honor to her three children who keep her grounded, thankful, and hopeful for a brighter future. She is a member of the Dramatist Guild of America and Honor Roll! -both organizations for professional playwrights. No matter what Dana decides to do next she will continue to be a thought-leader, advocate, and someone to definitely watch!
