Age: 29
Company Name (Position In The Company): TransActual UK (Director), at LGBT+ Consortium (Trustee), UN’s UNITE 2030 (Youth Delegate)
Rico started his career as a Diversity Consultant following on from launching his radio show ‘Against Racism’ in the aftermath of the BLM movement. The nine-part series explored the various forms of racism and how we can collectively make a difference. After reporting live at the BLM protests and speaking in the award-winning ‘Pride & Protest’ documentary he was appointed as a Director at TransActual UK. On healthcare, he has also spoken on NHS King College Hospital panels and North-East A&E doctors on LGBTQI+ healthcare and a similar subject at the Mayor of London’s round table think tanks. As a member of the board he continues to strive to change UK legislation for trans and non-binary equality, tackling hate crime and raising the Black Queer intersectionality question in all forums through addressing audiences at the House of Commons, London Trans Pride, Sony Music and the BPI Network and Department of Transport conferences; with quotes in Forbes, VICE, AZ Magazine and Pink News. As visibility matters Rico has been the face of the most recent Coppafeel and GAP campaign, speaking live on their platform regarding the intersectional impact on members of the Black Trans community. His recent appointment as the Trustee and Treasurer at LGBT+ Consortium has given him the opportunity to continue to help the community with their grant funding and to advocate for them through chairing panels at the London Assembly and being called to submit evidence at the Healthcare Committee. Rico is a very vocal activist, fighting avidly for the rights of LGBTQIA+ people and Black people alike.
